Description

Honouring the Sauza family legacy, Guillermo Sauza represents the 5th Generation of a family committed to crafting fine tequilas from the heart of Tequila, Jalisco. From their home for nearly 150 years, Tequila Fortaleza is the result of traditional artisanal craft, and their collection of 100% agave stone crushed tequilas are impressive in their exceptional flavour and smoothness. The range is characterised by its iconic hand-blown Mexican glass bottles and hand-made stoppers shaped like agave piñas. Simply put, this is a stellar collection of tequilas.

The ‘Destilería La Fortaleza’ estate overlooks the eponymous town of Tequila, Jalisco. This has been the home of Guillermo Sauza’s family and their distilleries for more than five generations, where they have meticulously perfected their craft since 1873.

Initially owning and running three local distilleries, Guillermo’s grandfather closed ‘La Fortaleza’ in 1968, turning it into a museum showcasing the history of tequila production.

Determined to revive his family’s iconic distillery, in 2002 Guillermo Sauza reignited the 100-year-old boiler of ‘La Fortaleza’ for the first time in decades. Using the same stone crusher mill from when the business started in 1873, his aim was simple – to create a collection of exceptional tequilas, honouring the past, and galvanising their future.
