Mezcales are normally bottled at still strength and can be very alcoholic indeed. Tequilas on the other hand are legally required to have an ABV of 40%, to achieve this a little bit of water is added. Santo de Piedra Espadín Mezcal has de mineralised water added to bring the ABV down to 40% which achieves consistency in alcohol, flavour and mouth feel. It's a little bit like adding water to whisky, it lengthens the flavours and makes for a very smooth enjoyable experience. We think this mezcal is just delicious.
