Chile Ancho is a mild, sweet-tasting variety of a dried ripened poblano chilli. Our powder is made from ground whole ancho chillies.
Wrinkly-skinned ancho chillies are the most commonly used dried chilli in México with a fruity, earthy flavour that’s indispensable whether you’re making salsas, sauces or stews.
Please note 250g and 1kg bags are packed in a cellophane bag.
Sprinkle over watermelon wedges with a pinch of sea salt and a squeeze of fresh lime for a refreshing, spicy snack.
Powdered chillies don’t require any soaking or toasting so just add directly to whatever you’re making.
Store in a cool and dry place. Avoid exposure to light.

Ancho (ahn-choh) chillies are made by drying fresh poblano chillies. Their name comes from their broad shape when dried (‘ancho’ means wide in Spanish).
