This is LOT No 11-S-KH - one of our customers who bought 6 bottles for her dad wrote this

‘Ive asked my Dad he said it’s one of the best batches he tried, so whenever I see them we stock up on them, very hard to find now as newer batches are out. It was same with Anejo, he liked 61a, 62a and 63a but don’t like the latest 64a. So he is waiting for 65a to try.

Also notice on the label there are two of Guillermo's dogs Sandy and Choco!

Honouring the Sauza family legacy, Guillermo Sauza represents the 5th Generation of a family committed to crafting fine tequilas from the heart of Tequila, Jalisco. From their home for nearly 150 years, Tequila Fortaleza is the result of traditional artisanal craft, and their collection of 100% agave stone crushed tequilas are impressive in their exceptional flavour and smoothness. The range is characterised by its iconic hand-blown Mexican glass bottles and hand-made stoppers shaped like agave piñas. Simply put, this is a stellar collection of tequilas.

The ‘Destilería La Fortaleza’ estate overlooks the eponymous town of Tequila, Jalisco. This has been the home of Guillermo Sauza’s family and their distilleries for more than five generations, where they have meticulously perfected their craft since 1873.

Initially owning and running three local distilleries, Guillermo’s grandfather closed ‘La Fortaleza’ in 1968, turning it into a museum showcasing the history of tequila production.

Determined to revive his family’s iconic distillery, in 2002 Guillermo Sauza reignited the 100-year-old boiler of ‘La Fortaleza’ for the first time in decades. Using the same stone crusher mill from when the business started in 1873, his aim was simple – to create a collection of exceptional tequilas, honouring the past, and galvanising their future.

Remy Newland: 'Nose: Agave fresh from the horno. Snappy minerals. Citrus and potting soil. Trace mintiness Fresh. Flavor: Pepper and cinnamon leap out of the glass, playing foil to the opulently sweet agave. Some herbal undertones join the mint, as does some salinity and anise. Finish: The flavors and mouth feel hang in for a good long time.'

Ryan August: 'On the nose, tons of cooked agave, some citrus, reminds me of the oil on an orange peel. That olive briney note is definitely there big time, and I’m getting pineapple rind and some honey. I swear something almost like corn in there. On the palate, Explosion of flavor. Absolutely tons of cooked agave and a nice sweetness that I wasn’t expecting. I’m taken aback at how oily it is, it coats the mouth exquisitely. Getting some olive, some vegetal notes. Definitely that honey, some cinnamon, and that salty/brineyness. Finish for days. Definitely a stunner, must have in the collection Imo. The hype is warranted.'

Grover Sanchagrin: 'Almost like you're getting Fortaleza Blanco direct from the still... actually, you are. This is a great blanco in its purest form. Fruity, earthy, green olive, and agave. Great long pleasant finish. Super oily and thick in the mouth. This is the real deal, folks.'
