Description

Beautiful tomatillos grown by Bucksbury Farm in Hertfordshire. Medium-sized and firm, with a sweet-tart, vegetable-like yet fruity flavor, we really like these! Raw, they make vibrant green salsas; roasted, they become earthy green sauces. We also made them into drinks! Sold in 500g portions.

Green Bloody Maria – Serves 1

    • 50ml tequila, vodka, or gin
    • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 – 1 tsp Cool Chile Habanero Hot Sauce
    • Juice of 1/2 lime
    • Big pinch of salt (or to taste—this really enhances the flavor and balances the lime, so don't hold back)
    • Ice
    • 2 tomatillos (husked and washed)
    • 1/2 stick celery
    • 1/4 green chili (seeds removed)

    Instructions:

    1. Prepare the glass: In a highball glass, combine the first 5 ingredients—tequila (or vodka/gin), Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lime juice, and salt. Stir well.
    2. Blend the vegetables: Blend the tomatillos, celery, and green chilli until smooth. Strain the mixture into the prepared highball glass.
    3. Finish: Add ice to the glass, stir gently, taste, and adjust if necessary. Garnish, then drink and enjoy!

    Green Michelada – Serves 1

    • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 – 1 tsp Cool Chile Habanero Hot Sauce
    • Juice of 1/2 lime
    • Big pinch of salt (or to taste—this really enhances the flavour and balances the lime, so don't be shy)
    • 2 tomatillos (husked and washed)
    • 1/4 green chili (seeds removed)
    • Ice
    • Lager (like Pacifico or Coors—something light and neutral-tasting)

    Instructions:

    1. Prepare the glass: Wet the rim of a glass or mug with a piece of cut lime. Place a bit of the seasoning salt into a shallow dish, then dip the wet rim into the salt.
    2. Mix the ingredients: Add Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lime juice, salt to the glass. Stir to combine.
    3. Blend and strain: Blend the tomatillos and green chilli until smooth. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass.
